ANCHORAGE - U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski has assembled a legal team to assist during the count of write-in votes.
The team will be led by her attorney, Tim McKeever, with assistance from Scott Kendall and Republican election specialist Ben Ginsberg.
Murkowski is running as a write-in candidate for Senate after losing the Republican primary to Joe Miller. After Tuesday's votes, the number of write-in ballots stood at 41 percent with Miller receiving 34 percent of the vote. The state will begin counting write-in ballots next Wednesday.
She said she doesn't expect many challenges from Miller's camp, but wants ensure every vote cast is counted.
Also on Wednesday, Murkowski announced she's formed a legal defense fund to help pay lawyers' fees. It's called the Alaska Voters Protection Fund.
