Bill Forrest benefit

A benefit in support of Bill Forrest will be Nov. 5 at the Hangar Ballroom. The fundraiser is two showings of the new action ski movie by Teton Gravity Research, "The Tangerine Dream." An all ages showing is at 6 p.m. and a 21 and over (or accompanied by parent/guardian) showing is at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available at the ski sale or at the door.

Forrest was born and raised in Juneau and has long been a member of the outdoor community. In the summer, he is the guide manager for Northstar Trekking, and in the winter, he is a professional ski patroller at Eaglecrest. When he is not working, he can generally be found somewhere on the mountains and ridges around Juneau exploring or volunteering for Juneau Mountain Rescue.

This spring, Forrest was diagnosed with a benign brain cyst. He faces potential brain surgery in the near future. Since he does not have health insurance, medical bills have accrued dramatically.
