Real estate vets form management firm

Juneau real estate broker Larry Bauer and agent Duane Gates combined resources last month to form a larger property management firm.

Bauer & Gates Real Estate has four agents and a broker, and will manage, sell and lease commercial and residential properties.

With Wal-Mart, Home Depot, several jewelry stores and other companies locating here, Gates said he and his partner saw a window of opportunity to offer "high-quality packages."

On the residential side, the company is managing 20 condominium associations.

Gates, a former U.S. Coast Guard member accustomed to moving around, said he will also work with property owners to maintain affordable housing in Juneau for those in the service and others locating here.
