Juneau-Douglas High School wrestling - The Crimson Bears wrestle in their lone regular-season home tournament this year. Juneau-Douglas hosts the two-day Pilot Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Times TBA.

Community Schools Open Adult Gym time - There will be open adult gym at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School for soccer on Fridays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. For basketball and volleyball, there will be open gym time on Sundays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is a $5 fee and players should bring their own soccer balls, basketballs or volleyballs. Gold Medal Tournament looking for teams - The Juneau Lions Gold Medal Invitation Committee is soliciting "Letters of Intent" from prospective teams for their 2006 Gold Medal Tournament. The tournament will be held March 26-April 1. Teams must be willing to commit to fielding a complete team in one of the following divisions: A, B, C and Women Division. If you have a team that would like to be considered please send a letter that includes your division choice, official contact name, address and phone number to the Juneau Lions Club, PO Box 20911, Juneau, Alaska, 99802. Yukon River Quest - registration - Registration has begun for the 2006 Yukon River Quest canoe and kayak race. The 460-mile race spans the Yukon River from Whitehorse to Dawson City in Yukon Territory, Canada. Deadline for entry is May 26. There is a limit of 70 canoe and kayak teams and only 25 solo kayak teams. Entry fees are $700 (Canadian) for tandem canoes and kayaks, $400 for solo kayaks and $200 for voyager teams. Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation scorekeepers needed - Juneau Parks and Recreation is looking for basketball scorekeepers for the 2005-06 Ordway Basketball season. Badminton Open Gym - Badminton open gym takes place at the Auke Bay School Gym, Mondays and Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fee is $3 per person and shuttlecocks are provided. Please bring your own raquet if you have one. All skill levels are invited. Info: Theresa Walden, 790-2499.
Mount Jumbo preschool open gym - Preschool open gyms for children ages 1-6 and an adult parent or caregiver takes place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays through April 28. There must be at least one adult present for every four kids. There is a $1 per child fee or punchcards for $10 or $50 can be bought at the gym, which is located at 909 4th St. in Douglas. Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19-older. Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. The cost to rent the court is $20 per hour, which must be paid at the time of rental. This is for adult activities only. Info: Juneau Community Schools, 463-1717.
Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes Hotline. Always remember to bring plenty of food and water, wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms are allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
