Troopers located two lost skiers at 11:30 p.m. Monday near the southern tip of Douglas Island. Kevin Krein, 35 and Henry Webb, 27, were found in good condition after they lost their bearings Sunday trying to ski the back country near Eaglecrest Ski Area. The two men were forced to stay the night in the area.
A local search party and a Coast Guard helicopter from Sitka were dispatched to the area. Due to fog, troopers said, the search party on the ground couldn't follow tracks left by the skiers. But the helicopter pilot located the two men in an open area. Troopers, the Eaglecrest Ski Patrol and the National Guard also assisted with the search.
