JUNEAU - Turnout in Tuesday's statewide election was 43.4 percent. In Juneau, turnout was about 52 percent.

Total turnout numbers will increase as more absentee ballots arrive by mail and questioned ballots are tallied, according to Virginia Breeze, spokeswoman for the Division of Elections.

Absentee ballots that arrived as of Tuesday are included in the totals. Questioned ballots and more absentee ballots will be counted Nov. 19. The division expects to certify the election results Nov. 29, Breeze said.

Turnout in the 2000 general election was 60.8 percent.
