Museum offers kids beading class

Posted: Thursday, November 07, 2002

JUNEAU - Salty Hanes of Spirit Beads will teach a children's beading class from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum. The class is a kickoff for the family beading circle, which also begins this weekend from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the museum.

The beading class will instruct kids in making beaded chokers. It costs $3, and preregistration is required. The family beading circle is free and will take place every Saturday throughout the fall, winter and spring.

This is the second year that the city museum has hosted the family beading circle. The event was well-attended last year, Hanes said, especially around the holidays. The beading circle is designed to allow beaders to come together and share beads and knowledge.
