Former Juneau resident Eugene "Jim" Wood, 79, died Nov. 3, 2003, at his home in Olympia, Wash.
Born Feb. 15, 1924, in Detroit, Mich., he was the youngest of three children. He worked for Pan American World Airways and moved to Juneau, where he married Pat Olson. They had three children, Debbie, Alan and Jeff. In 1965, he was transferred to St. Croix, Virgin Islands. In 1975, he married Jane Faulkner, of Juneau. They celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary in October.
He enjoyed gardening and restoring T-Bird automobiles. He and Jane attended many competitions throughout the United States and won many trophies with their cars. He retired from Pan American after 38 years. He and Jane lived in the Seattle area until two years ago, when they moved to Olympia to be closer to their family. He was a lifetime member of the Juneau Elks Club and the Juneau Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; sons, Alan and Jeff; daughter, Debbie; stepdaughters, Kim and Karen; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
His wishes were to be cremated with no service. A "Celebration of Life" will be held from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at his home in Olympia.
