FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Wilderness League has opened an office in Fairbanks.
The conservation group's executive director says the office is being opened to work on securing wilderness designations on public lands, including those in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska on the North Slope.
The group also is focusing on other BLM lands in the eastern Interior.
Thirty-seven-year-old Darcie Warden will serve as outreach coordinator in the one-person Fairbanks office.
