Photo: Early grocery store in Juneau Images from another time

Posted: Thursday, November 08, 2007

An unidentified group of men stand in front of Home Grocery, a store owned by John Hermle Sr. and located on the corner of Willoughby Avenue and E Street, which is now Glacier Avenue. The photo is undated, but the cars in the background appear to be from the mid-1930s to early-1940s. Hermle and partner Joe Thibodeau purchased the Home Grocery building in 1935. Hermle bought out Thibodeau's interest in the store four years later.
