Two Juneau women in Top 40 Under 40

JUNEAU - Two Juneau women have been recognized for their professional excellence by the Alaska Journal of Commerce, which has released its 2007 list of Top Forty Under 40.
Heather Haugland of the McDowell Group and Jill Remiel of the Silverbow Inn and Bakery made the list. Details about the award and a full list of recipients can be found at www.anchoragechamber.org.
A 1999 Juneau-Douglas High School graduate, Andrea Keikkala, also made the list. She resides in Sitka and is the executive director of the Greater Sitka Chamber of Commerce.
Alaska's Top Forty Under 40 is a program created by the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce and Alaska Journal of Commerce to recognize the state's top young professionals younger than age 40 who have demonstrated professional excellence and a commitment to their community.
Class offered for business plans
JUNEAU - The Juneau Small Business Development Center will offer a seminar on developing a business plan on Nov. 14.
The seminar will guide participants through the process of writing a formal business plan for a loan proposal, planning the start up of a business, or developing a strategy to expand an already-established business.
The seminar will be held in the third-floor conference room of the Juneau Empire building at 3100 Channel Drive. The cost for each seminar is $25, although there are scholarships available to low-income participants. Space is limited, so pre-registration is requested. For more information, call 463-3789.
The Juneau Small Business Development Center offers free, confidential counseling to help plan, assist developing financial projections and review plans after the seminar.
