JUNEAU - The Widowed Persons Program is pleased to announce a special public program, "Grief and the Holidays," to be held at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, in the Mendenhall Valley library conference room.
Jamie McLean, a counselor in private practice, and Debbie Sis, Healing Touch practitioner, will present this program for families and friends who have lost a loved one through death. This program will offer suggestions on how to navigate through the holiday season which becomes a very difficult time for families who have lost a loved one. Participants will also learn how to create new traditions that pay tribute to the memory of their loved one.
This public program is sponsored by the Widowed Persons Program which provides events, activities, and support for both men and women of all ages who have been widowed. Program social activities include monthly brunches, dinners, picnics, pot Luck dinners, and support group meetings. The group also organizes special community activities such as Alaska State Museum or Juneau-Douglas City Museum exhibits, day ferry trips and tours of the tram, Glacier Gardens and the Jenson-Olson Arboretum.
The Widowed Persons Program wishes to extend a special invitation to everyone who has lost a loved through death to attend this public program. Please invite your family and friends to come with you.
