Due to a reporting error, a Thursday Empire article on mail delivery problems incorrectly explained federal support for flights to Yakutat. The postal service contract for carrying mail is separate from an essential air service subsidy that helps fund flights into the small community. The mail contract, essential air service and passenger and cargo revenues are all part of the equation Alaska Airlines uses to determine the frequency of service into Yakutat.
