The Boys & Girls Club of Juneau was very fortunate to be a recipient organization of the United Way Day of Caring on Oct. 6. With the support of UAS Chancellor John Pugh and Lynn Johnson, volunteers Paul Kraft, Greg Wagner, Charles Lindley, Tonya Irving, Dan Buck, Jennifer Scott, Marissa Olson, and Val Joyce donated their time to paint walls and trim at the Boys & Girls Club. The club can never thank wonderful volunteers and supporters enough for their time and effort! Their hard work helped the club complete the finishing touches to the PowerUP computer lab as well as improve the overall look of the club
Many local organizations benefit from support provided by the United Way of Southeast Alaska. The United Way of SE Alaska is able to help local organizations because of the generous contributions provided by Juneau community members. As of Nov. 4, the United Way of SE Alaska campaign is only 22 percent of the way to meet their 2001 campaign goal. The Boys & Girls Club of Juneau is a new organization to Juneau. Though not currently a United Way of SE Alaska agency, the club will apply to become a member when eligible. The United Way of SE Alaska is not able to accept new member agencies unless it can support current member agencies. As the end of the year draws near, our minds and hearts are back east as well as at home. Please support your local United Way so that they can continue to help those organizations in Juneau make this a great community to live.
