... for help with pancake breakfast

Those of us working at the Juneau Senior Center, on the Senior Nutrition Programs (Meals on Wheels, three Senior Centers) would like to thank all of the folks who came to our annual Alaska Day Pancake Breakfast to support our programs. Thanks to Dale Wygant for volunteering his wonderful accordion music. Thanks to all of you, we can keep going five days a week for a while longer. Thanks to all of the hard-working volunteers who cooked and served and cleaned up that day.

The Senior Health Fair, on Oct. 22, was a rip-roaring success. Hospice and Homecare dispensed 95 flu shots and 26 people had tests requiring blood draws. Thanks especially to the Alaska Health Fairs for setting this up and bringing the lab technician from Anchorage.

Thanks to all those who read and printed our announcements before these events. Thanks for the ads donated by Melissa Goese-Goble and the space for the Health Fair ads donated by the Juneau Empire.

... for helping with restoration

The Davis Paintings Restoration Committee thanks all those who helped make the Oct. 22 dinner, theater and art auction such a success. We are especially grateful for donations by the Rie Munoz Gallery and by local artists and writers Carol Brady, Barbara Craver, June Hall and the Gastineau Historical Society, Marilyn Holmes, Beth Kerttula, Jane Lindsey, Sharon Lobaugh, Joyce Payne, Lisa Rickey, Bridget Smith, Barbara Stambaugh, Jane Terzis, and Paula Wright, as well as donations from Terry Hoskinson, Louise Champagne, Connie Munro, Bill Heumann and Marjorie Menzi.

The dramatic sketch of Frances Davis' life which was written and performed by Mary Lou Spartz was both enlightening and funny; we thank her for her time and talent and also thank Aaron Elmore and Theatre in the Rough for lights and Damon Stuebner for videotaping and sound. Marcia Nye cooked a delightful curry dinner with help from Mary Jane Tenney, Mary Moore, Connie Munro, Rebecca Smith, Lorraine Bayer, Millie Tandy, Connie Davis, and Johanna Smith, which was served by nimble and agile servers Ian Andrews, Glenn Hoskinson, Claire Badger, Elizabeth Bauer, Aldyn Brudie, and Joe Croteau. Alfreda Dore and Freya Anderson helped with setup and cleanup and Ed Schoenfeld, Rebecca Smith, and Damon Stuebner did publicity. Damon also enlarged the family photos provided by Connie Davis.
