I agree with Philip Rolfe. I don't think what we as Alaskans charge the oil companies for pumping our oil is a tax. This is simply a fee and it should be simpler than it has been. When we go to the gas station and pump fuel, is it a tax? No, just a certain amount per gallon.

What we need is the same thing. You pump out so many barrels of oil then, chakinka ching, so many dollars into the state coffers. We really don't need to go any further than that do we?
So, if there is to be "tax" breaks or incentives, it should all come after the "pump price" just like we have. Simple, right?
