Program description: The Learning Connection provides free GED and adult education, computer training, family literacy programs, and job assistance programs at several locations in Juneau and throughout Southeast Alaska.

Volunteer positions available: Do you have an hour a week to spare? TLC uses volunteers as tutors. Volunteers do not have to be experts in any particular field, all they need is the desire to help someone build a better life through education. Our tutors help teens and adults study for the GED exam, learn English as a second language (knowledge of another language besides English is not necessary) and help people look for employment.

• Neighbors Helping Neighbors is a weekly feature on the Neighbors page and is in collaboration with the United Way of Southeast Alaska. More volunteer opportunities can be found online at the Volunteer Center of Southeast Alaska, www.unitedwayseak.org.
