I am a secretary for a small general contractor here in Anchorage. My boss just told me that all construction materials will be hard to find in the near future because California has bought it all up. That means prices here will be higher and we may not even be able to get sheetrock. Why aren't the dead spruce trees here in Alaska being harvested now? There is a demand and the prices should be pretty good. The construction industry here in Alaska is being affected by the California fires and there isn't much we can do except resume logging and log the dead trees first. We also could have serious fire hazards as well if we don't deal with this issue now.
