Democrats in the dust bin

Letter to the editor

There are few things as satisfying as opening the Sunday editorial page after election day and reading a condescending rant from a liberal "know-it-all" about how the majority of fellow voters in this election got conned. Thanks Ms. Noble. You made my day. As many of your peers in the national Democratic Party pronounce similar "analysis," it is clear that the Democratic party is headed to the dust bin of history, where it belongs.

People voted for the president for varied reasons, among them: 1) we do not trust Kerry or the UN to manage the war on terrorism; 2) we do not trust Kerry and Edwards to run the executive branch of the government - between the two of them, their demonstrated management experience outside of this campaign is undistinguished - and they ran a lousy campaign; 3) we do not trust Kerry to appoint competent judges who understand restraint and will not legislate from the bench; and, 4) we do not share their vision of a government-run health care system. I could go on and on. Bottom line is that among the two choices, Bush with his faults, or Kerry, it was not even a close call. Your elitist condescension gives me confidence that the rest of us made the right decision.
