• Eaglecrest Ski Area season passes - Discounted season passes for Eaglecrest Ski Area are available if purchased before Sunday, Dec. 1. The 2002-03 preseason pass prices, not including tax, are $375 for adults, $255 for youth (grades 7-12), $255 for seniors (age 65-older), $180 for child (grades K-6), $189.52 for midweek and $500 for corporate. Eaglecrest staff members will be at the Nugget Mall on weekends and holidays through the end of November selling passes, or you can stop by the business office at the Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation office (Room 218) at the Municipal Building, downtown. • Juneau-Douglas High School football awards banquet - The Crimson Bears' awards banquet and potluck dinner takes place from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, at Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall on Willoughby Ave. Season highlight films will be distributed to players. • Juneau Rowing Club meeting - Meet from 6-6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, at the Nugget Mall, across from Hearthside Books, for the club's inaugural general membership meeting. The meeting will precede a 6:30-8:30 p.m. book-signing at Hearthside Books by Jill Fredston, author of the award-winning book "Rowing to Latitude: Journeys Along the Arctic Edge." The club will elect officers, discuss Aurora Harbor floats and plans for rowing shell storage. An annual membership fee of $20 will cover newsletter distribution, rowing instruction and facilities rental. Shares in rowing shells also are for sale. • Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation youth indoor soccer registration - Registration is open from Nov. 12-25 for the 2003 season, which starts in early January and runs through mid-March. Forms can be picked up at the Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation office downtown or at the Zach Gordon Youth Center. Registration forms can also be downloaded off the Parks and Rec Web site at (follow the links to the youth sports page and to the youth indoor soccer page). • Holiday Cup Competitive Indoor Soccer Tournament registration - Holiday Cup 2002 will be held Dec. 21-31. There will be four coed divisions: Elementary (grades 4-5), Middle School, Junior (high schoolers ages 16 and under) and Open (ages 17-21). • Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation lifeguard training class - This five-week class takes place from Tuesday, Nov. 12, through Saturday, Dec. 14, with sessions held from 5:45-8:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays at Augustus G. Brown Swimming Pool. The class is open to advanced swimmers age 15-older, and all participants must pass a swim test before enrolling. • Youth open gyms - Meet from 8-11 p.m. on Saturdays (Nov. 16, 23 and 30) at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School gym. Friday night youth open gyms at Floyd Dryden Middle School have been canceled due to lack of participants. Youth open gyms are free for students in grades 5-12.
