Randy Wanamaker is right (Nov. 4 Empire, "City eyes tax break ..."). My wife and I have already filled up our two tanks for the winter. That is 875 gallons of heating fuel, or to put a price on it $2,500 worth of fuel. So much for our family's Alaska Permanent Fund dividends. I guess I should thank the state for paying my fuel bill. Thanks. The proposed tax reprieve would have saved us $125. That means I could have filled up my truck two more times (25 gallons each time at $3.09 a gallon).
I don't want to seem ungrateful, but frankly, the whole situation is a little depressing. The proposed reprieve is a day late and a dollar short.
