TALKEETNA - Law enforcement officers blew out the front tires of a suspect fleeing on the Parks Highway, then waited until his vehicle fell apart 35 miles later to arrest him near Talkeetna.

Twenty-four-year-old Deepak Chaudhary was taken into custody early Sunday morning and charged with failing to stop at the direction of a peace officer.

State troopers say the incident began just before midnight Saturday when a Wasilla police officer tried to stop a vehicle suspected of speeding.

Troopers used tire deflation devices at Miles 52 and 62 of the Parks Highway but the car kept going.

Officers backed off the chase. They eventually found the suspect vehicle at Mile 97 with a drive train that no longer worked.

Troopers had to break windows to remove Chaudhary.
