Polka and more at Saturday's Scandinavian Dance

A Scandinavian Dance will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Juneau Yacht Club. The evening will include live music, dancing and dance instruction, as well as handmade arts and crafts, baked goods, a DVD and CD sale and door prizes. It is sponsored by the Svalbard Lodge, Sons of Norway of Juneau.

The dance is $5 per person, and free to children 12 and under.

Dale Wygant, accordion player will be joined by The Polka Band: Ken Guiher on trumpet, Brian Van Kirk on alto saxophone, Paul Shannon on trombone, Russell Strandtmann on alto horn, Beth Leibowitz on clarinet and Alan Young on tuba. They will be playing familiar tunes for everyone to dance the waltz, polka, schottische, fox trot and other dances.

Lee Otterholt, an international choreographer, dancer, author and teacher, will be on hand to provide dance instruction.
