JRC/TAC Fall Tennis and Racquetball Tournament - JRC/The Alaska Club is hosting the Fall Tennis and Racquetball Tournament from Nov. 16-19. Tennis features mixed, men's and women's doubles with open, A and B skill levels. Fee for JRC/The Alaska Club members is $20 plus tax for one event, $30 plus tax for non-members, and $30 plus tax for two events, $40 plus tax for non-members. JDHS Wrestling Brandon Pilot Tournament - The Juneau-Douglas High School wrestling team hosts the Brandon Pilot Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday at the JDHS gym. Wrestling will start 3 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday with the championship round taking place at 6 p.m. There will be a cover charge at the door and students must bring their student ID to receiver an admission discount. Also, seniors wil receive a discount on admission.
Juneau-Douglas High School hockey - The Juneau-Douglas High School hockey team makes its home debut at Treadwell Arena with two games against visiting Kenny Lake. Friday's game starts at 7:45 p.m. while Saturday's faceoff is at 6:30 p.m.

Juneau Parks and Recreation Adult Basketball managers meeting - The Juneau Parks and Recreation Adult Basketball managers will have a meeting at 5:15 p.m. Thursday at Assembly Chambers. Co-ed Master's Indoor Soccer Sunday - The Co-Ed Master's Soccer Sundays is for experienced men and women soccer players over the age of 30. There will be no formal teams and no referees. HoopTime registration - The HoopTime basketball program is now taking registration for players in grades 5 through 8. The 2007 HoopTime season starts Jan 2. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served bases. Registration deadline is Nov. 30, late registration ends Dec. 6. Start Smart Basketball Program - The Start Smart Basketball Program is for boys and girls ages 4-5. It helps develop the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball while they work one-on-one and spend quality time with their parents. The program focuses on teaching children and their parents skills in dribbling/ball handling, passing/catch, shooting and running/agility without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. The program is held once a week for six weeks and each week the exercises become increasingly more difficult as the class progresses and the children show improvement. The sessions will be held weekly at a valley site from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., beginning the week of Jan. 15. Fee is $25 and each child will receive a t-shirt, workbook and participant manual. Juneau Parks and Recreation Youth Basketball Registration - Registration for the upcoming Juneau Parks and Recreation Youth Basketball season will run Nov. 6-20 at the Parks and Rec office or at the Zach Gordon Youth Center downtown. Mt. Jumbo Gym Preschool Open Gym - The Mt. Jumbo Preschool Open Gym starts Sept. 5. This gym is open to the pblic on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to noon for all children ages 1-6. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at a maximum ration of four children to one adult. Play equipment and tumbling mats are provided. There is a $1 per child cost for the program. Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19-older. Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes Hotline. Always remember to bring plenty of food and water, wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms are allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
