SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium President/CEO Roald Helgesen, center, speaks during the Oct. 28 open house for SEARHC's new short-term patient housing facility. The new facility has 18 rooms (14 doubles and four singles) and is located across the parking lot from the SEARHC Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in Sitka. It will provide a comfortable place to stay for people who travel to Sitka for outpatient medical treatment and for those patients recently discharged from the hospital who need time to heal before they head home. The first patients were housed in the facility on Monday, Nov. 3.
