Master teacher Lee Otterholt, of Laguna Beach, Calif., will conduct a weekend of international folk dance instruction beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at the Filipino Hall, 251 South Franklin St. The event is sponsored by Juneau International Folkdancers.
Otterholt is an internationally respected dance instructor. He was the choreographer for many dance ensembles throughout Scandinavia and directed the Center for International Folk Dance in Oslo, Norway, from 1982 to 2003. From 1980 to 2003 he was teacher of Ethnic and folkloristic dance at the Norwegian National Ballet School and the Norwegian National College of Music.
He was also co-choreographer for the opening and closing ceremonies of the XVII Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer, Norway. He and his wife moved to the United States in 2003.
Workshop sessions are: 7-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13; 10-11:30 a.m., 1-2:30 p.m. and 2:45-4:15 p.m. Nov. 14, ; and 1-2:30 p.m. and 2:45-4:15 p.m. Nov. 15. Single sessions are $10 per person.
