Juneau resident Bruce D. McHardy died Nov. 11, 2009, in Phoenix, Ariz. He was 55.
Born in 1954 in Columbus, Miss. He came to Juneau with his family from Guam in 1970. After graduating from Juneau-Douglas High School, he attended Utah State University, completing his Bachelor's degree in computer science. He returned to Juneau after college and worked for the state. He retired from the Alaska Department of Labor in 2006.
He really enjoyed traveling and was able to see many places around the world. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Most recently he returned to Guam after 40 years.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Arthur "Jim" McHardy. He is survived by his father and mother, Earl and Muriel McHardy of Phoenix, Ariz.; his brother Robert and wife Corina McHardy of Evergreen, Colo.; his niece Heidi McHardy; his brother Richard and wife Anyelina McHardy and their children, Esmerlin and Crileivi of Logan, Utah; and many other family members and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held in Juneau at a later date.
