Coast Guard rescues man injured in fishing boat

JUNEAU - A Coast Guard helicopter crew on a training flight got switched to a rescue mission when a commercial fisherman was injured.

The MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew was deployed in Cold Bay on Tuesday and was taking part in a training flight near Dutch Harbor.

The helicopter was diverted to evacuate 26-year-old Tom Webster, who suffered head injuries aboard the 58-foot fishing vessel Cape Reliant.

The boat was 55 miles northeast of Dutch Harbor in the Aleutian Islands.

Webster was flown to Dutch Harbor and then transferred to a medical flight service and flown to Anchorage for additional medical care.
