Wostmann announces new staff: Wostmann and Associates, a computer programming consulting firm in downtown Juneau, recently hired two new programers.
Philippe Damerval comes to Juneau from Europe according to a WAI press release. He specializes in database structure design, systems design and analysis as well as Internet and Intranet systems. Damerval's native language is French, but he also speaks English, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Russian.
Sander Schijvens joins WAI after five years in the semiconductor business as an administrator, according to the company. His experience includes setting up a corporate document management system to supporting the management of a 500-employee software department.
UAS hires grounds manager: Juneau horticulturist David Lendrum has been hired by the University of Alaska Southeast as its part-time landscaping and grounds manager.
"Landscaping and appearance is an important part of the impression people have of our campus," said UAS facilities services director Keith Gerken. "We want to capitalize on our marvelous natural setting" overlooking Auke Lake.
Lendrum and his wife Margaret Tharpe own Landscape Alaska, and he writes a regular gardening column for the Empire.
