Above, from the left, Stephani Joy Griffin, Don Larsen and Bill Forrest of the Juneau Alpine Club descend toward the Mendenhall Glacier after a successful climb to the summit of Mount Stroller White on Monday.

Below, Molly the dog waits in futility for Bill Forrest to share his tuna sandwich during the outing. Also making the climb was Greg Bledsoe.

Group members began hiking up the West Glacier Trail at 6:20 a.m. using headlamps. They followed part of the Mount McGinnis route, then dropped into Heavenly Valley before crossing over to the face of Mount Stroller White, wearing crampons part of the way. They returned to the trailhead by 6:50 p.m.
