JUNEAU - A grand jury indicted Victor Powell on four criminal charges, after police said he fled from officers, struck a women with his van, and wound up in the Mendenhall wetlands.
Powell, 38, was charged with two counts of assault, one count of failing to stop for a police officer and one count of driving under the influence, stemming from a September police chase in which police said an officer fired his weapon at the vehicle Powell was driving.
Powell sustained injuries related to the chase and was sent to a Seattle hospital for treatment. He's currently in jail in Seattle, Juneau District Attorney Doug Gardner said. A warrant has been issued for Powell to return to Juneau.
