SOLDOTNA - An 87-year-old Sterling woman died in a two-car crash on the Sterling Highway.
Mary Hunter of Sterling was a passenger Tuesday afternoon in a car that was struck by a car that crossed the centerline at Mile 90.5.
Alaska State Troopers said 17-year-old Savanna Schoessler was driving south on the highway when she lost control and slid across the centerline.
Her car struck the passenger side of a northbound car driven by 65-year-old Mary Johns of Sterling.
Hunter was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said use of alcohol or drugs was not suspected and roads were icy and covered with light snow.
