Training for mountain rescue

Posted: Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Juneau Mountain Rescue volunteers met for a monthly training on Nov. 10 near the Bonnie Brae subdivision in Douglas. The focus of the training was rigging rescue litters and litter/rescuer attendant tie ins.

JMR meets at least once a month year-round for field-training sessions as well as twice a year for overnight sessions. Training sessions can take place on rock, water-ice or nearby glaciers. Team members are encouraged to supplement their outdoor and rescue mountaineering skills.
