Biologists capture bear near Juneau pizzeria

JUNEAU - Another black bear has been captured near a downtown Juneau pizzeria with a name connected to cartoon wildlife.

State biologists on Thursday tranquilized a bear after it climbed down a tree near Bullwinkle's Pizza Parlor.

It's the fourth bear captured near the restaurant this year.

Biologist Ryan Scott says the bear was spotted in the tree Thursday morning and his office took a call as the bear climbed down.

Juneau police were called in to help with crowd control.

When the bear approached a state office, it was captured. The healthy sow will be relocated out of the city.

Two cubs were caught by a Bullwinkle's garbage bin last month and their mother was later trapped. The three bears also were transported away from the city.
