ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A Bethel man has been appointed to the Alaska Board of Game.
Gov. Sarah Palin on Thursday appointed Stanley L. "Stosh" Hoffman Jr. to the seven-member board that sets bag limits and regulatory seasons.
Hoffman, 38, is a Yupik Eskimo who grew up in the McGrath area.
Palin said he has extensive knowledge of subsistence, hunting and guiding activities.
He has been a commercial gillnetter in the Kuskokwim River since 1987 and a state-licensed assistant guide in the Holitna watershed since 1997.
Hoffman replaces Craig Fleener of Fort Yukon, the new director of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game subsistence division.
Hoffman has been director of corporate facilities for the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation since 2007.
