Hunter from Ketchikan found safe

Posted: Thursday, November 15, 2001

A search ended this morning when hunter Mark Tollfeldt of Ketchikan walked out of the woods in the Neck Lake area of Prince of Wales Island.

Tollfeldt, 51, had been reported missing Wednesday morning by his hunting companion and brother, Eric Tollfeldt of Anchorage.

They had hunted separately Tuesday, but Mark Tollfeldt didn't return to their vehicle at noon as planned.

Troopers, volunteers and the Klawock Search and Rescue Organization looked for the missing man Wednesday.

Ten teams of ground searchers and one dog team from Ketchikan searched this morning until Mark Tollfeldt emerged at 9:15 a.m., in good health, saying he had become disoriented.
