If any of you handicapped people have noticed, Fred Meyer has done away with its "handicapped" parking spaces across from the main entrance, leaving them only at each end - miles away from restrooms, the pharmacy, the jewelry, etc.
Sound off on the important issues at
I can think of no other business in Juneau that does not have main entrance handicapped parking spots.
I talked with someone in the Fred Meyer manager's office and was informed that he has no intention of changing the spaces back to handicap parking. I then contacted a city worker, who was shocked that Fred Meyer chose to do this, which apparently is not against the law. It's courtesy to customers.
If a big business such as this does not consider the needs of its customers, maybe they don't need the customers.
It is easy to shop at Wal-Mart, and it's very accessible. How do you feel about this?
