JUNEAU - Trail Mix will host a gala dinner and auction to benefit the Treadwell Ditch Trail at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Centennial Hall.
The celebration will include a barbecue dinner by The Spinnin' Pig, live music and dancing with The Great Alaska Bluegrass Band and a no-host bar. Silent and outcry auction items include flightseeing tours, outdoor gear, and even a ride to school aboard a fire engine from Capital City Fire Rescue.
The event will support Trail Mix's effort to restore the Treadwell Ditch Trail, which at 16 miles is the longest trail in Alaska's capital. Trail Mix recently concluded a series of public meetings to discuss future plans for the trail, and hopes to begin field work in 2009.
Tickets include dinner and cost $35 for Trail Mix members and $40 for non-members. Admission and a one-year membership in Trail Mix is $50. Tickets are available at Hearthside Books beginning Thursday, or by calling 790-6406.
