JUNEAU - Gusting high winds Friday night ripped up a new roof under construction at a Juneau animal shelter.
No animals were hurt despite the damage wreaked at the Gastineau Humane Society building by wind gusts of over 60 mph.
Humane Society director Chava Lee said all the animals being cared for by the shelter are safe.
Lee said roofing workers managed to secure a temporary cover over the building.
