Banghart will help advance museum

Posted: Tuesday, November 17, 2009

I would like to extend my congratulations to Bob Banghart on his appointment as the new chief curator of the Alaska State Museum.

Two years ago, we worked together to put on a historic firearms exhibit at the museum in honor of Rep. Richard Foster of Nome. This was a significant event in our successful effort to obtain funds to plan an expanded and integrated Alaska State Library, archive and museum facility.

I look forward to working with Bob to support Sen. Dennis Egan's efforts to construct this institution, which is important not just to Juneau or Southeast, but to the whole state. Beyond housing significant papers, artifacts and texts, the SLAM will provide crucial support to local and regional institutions across the state.

Sen. Johnny Ellis
