Couer d'Alene's Wheeler wins award from miners association

Coeur d'Alene Mines Corp. CEO Dennis E. Wheeler has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Alaska Miners Association for his work in bringing the Kensington Gold Mine into production. The award was presented at the AMA Annual Convention in Anchorage.

"People in Alaska and members of the Alaska Miners Association have been so grateful to Dennis for his tenacity and his determination to go forward with Kensington in the face of what appeared to be insurmountable odds," AMA executive director Steve Borell stated in a press release. "This award is in gratitude and appreciation for what he and Coeur have accomplished here in Alaska, bringing jobs and economic development, along with environmentally sound resource development, to Juneau and Southeast Alaska."
