Everyone deserves health insurance

Posted: Tuesday, November 18, 2003

I would like Mr. Love to explain what he finds "immoral" about health insurance coverage for domestic partners. I don't get it, Mr. Love. Why would you not want everyone to have health insurance? Is it the term "domestic partner" that disturbs you? Maybe you are assuming that domestic partner means "same-sex partner"? It doesn't necessarily mean that. There are hetrosexual couples who live together that are not married who are also domestic partners. Do you think you are above everyone else because you are married and that only those hetrosexuals that are married deserve health insurance? Or maybe you're homophobic and feel that homosexuals don't deserve insurance? Now why would anyone feel so resentful of others having health insurance? It's not like anyone is getting the insurance for free and last time I looked "homosexual" currency was just as valid as "heterosexual" currency. But then I have my eyes open as well as my heart and I think that everyone should have health insurance, regardless of their status in life or living situation. I find it outrageous that there are still people out there who would deny others their rights. Maybe my eyes aren't so open after all, but my heart still is. It's because of people who think like you do that discrimination exists and will continue to exist. I only hope that the state will follow through with the same opportunity as the CBJ has offered to domestic partners. Kudos to CBJ!

By the way, I find it rather ironic that your last name is "Love."
