New insurance policy wastes tax dollars

Posted: Tuesday, November 18, 2003

It never ceases to amaze me how my tax dollars are being spent by our city leaders. One example is how the city leaders gave $50,000 to Perseverance Theater this summer and now they are going to give benefits to individuals who aren't married. When will the continual sucking of my tax dollars stop paying for everybody's pet projects? When will it stop? I suppose when more voters come out and vote, then we can vote the current regime out of office, and get some conservative leadership into office. Not likely any time soon, though, especially since less than 40 percent of our population votes - hint, hint.

There was a comment made in the house this morning that maybe my daughter can get benefits from her boy's policy for dental. Hey, if partners get it why can't my daughter; since I don't have dental coverage, that's fair isn't it? They aren't married and they've been together for over a year, they love each other - so will my daughter get dental provided to her? That's equality, that's what it's all about isn't it, equality for all?

Kudos to the city workers who are stepping up to the plate for a good cause. They ought to run for office - I'd vote and campaign for them.
