Sitka resident Alberta Christine Duncan died Nov. 11, 2008, in Sitka. She was 55.
Born Jan. 1, 1953, to Mary and Robert Duncan, she was a Deisheetan, Raven Beaver from Angoon. She attended Mt. Edgecumbe High School where she met and married Terenty Merculief Sr., and they had four children, Terenty Jr., Jay Jay Merculief-Barker, and Robert and Dosy Merculief. They later divorced. From her children came seven cherished grandchildren, her family said.
She lived in Sitka and traveled frequently to be with her family in Angoon as well as other communities.
According to her family, as a small girl, she told the priest her church name was Olga but preferred "Hot Stuff."
Her funeral service was officiated by the Rev. Elia Larsen in Sitka, and her remains will travel on to Angoon with her father, Robert Duncan; sisters, Vivan James, Jennifer Young, Barbara George, Katie Duncan, Anita Duncan and Audrey Howard; and only brother, Peter Duncan.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Angoon Assembly of God.
