No trip to Alaska

My wife and I were looking forward to a trip to Alaska to see this magnificent environment. We are horrified to discover that the state allows the shooting of wild animals from airplanes. How can the state of Alaska allow its wild animals to be slaughtered from airplanes, and allow such a practice to be called "hunting?"
