JUNEAU - The Juneau World Affairs Council will sponsor Mike Veseth, professor at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash., to speak on "The Future of Globalization" at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at KTOO Studio, on Whittier and Egan Drive, downtown.
Veseth recently published a book, "Globaloney," which presents a critique of anti-globalization rhetoric and examines the diversity of globalization effects on the ground as opposed to the broad generalizations of popular theory. He is a professor of international political economics and will speak on the implications of the world economy on international trade and is currently researching a book on the global wine market.
Veseth has received a number of teaching awards in addition to being an author, editor or co-author of more than a dozen books. His trilogy of books on globalization has drawn considerable attention around the world. He receivedhis Bachelor of Arts in economics and mathematics from the University of Puget Sound and his Master of Science and doctorate in economics from Purdue University.
