Photos: Getting ready for World AIDS Day

Top, Juneau-Douglas High School freshmen Tessa Haralovich, center, Kabil Ed, left, Jonathan Maki, and Eli Wray, right, cut red ribbons after school Tuesday in preparation for World AIDS Day on Dec. 1. Next week the students will be passing out the ribbons to commemorate those who have died of AIDS as well as those who are still fighting the disease.

The local event is organized by Shanti of Southeast Alaska, a local AIDS umbrella organization. Bottom, JDHS freshman Eve Schroeder shapes a commemorative AIDS ribbon Tuesday afternoon.
