On Nov. 5, the Phillip Morris USA Inc. celebrated its Marlboro's 50th year in existence. To wrap up this year's promotion, they planned to hallmark this occasion by hiring famous bands to play in 49 major cities.
It is no coincidence that Marlboro is the No. 1 product used by youth (ages 14-24). Knowing that, you will not be surprised to hear that Marlboro outsold every other brand this year. It never ceases to amaze me to what length or what expense these companies will go to keep and find new consumers. More than 400,000 people in the United States will die this year from a tobacco-related disease. It's also interesting to me that Big Tobacco staged this just 12 days before The Great American Smokeout.
