The Juneau Airport is show in 1943. The airport was built in the 1930s for military use. From 1941 to 1945, the U.S. military used the airport for World War II missions. The first terminal was dedicated in 1949. Juneau resident Sam Wanamaker said he remembers his first flight from Juneau to Seattle in 1949, which cost $60 on Pacific Northern Airlines.
