The deadline for submissions to the University of Alaska Southeast's literary journal, Tidal Echoes, is Dec. 1.
The journal is accepting poems, fiction, creative nonfiction, essays and plays, as well as artwork, which can include drawings, paintings, photographs, carvings, sculpture, pottery, beadwork and baskets.
All full-time residents of Southeast Alaska are eligible to enter, and full or part-time UAS students are particularly encouraged to apply. Work may be submitted in more than one genre. Include name and address on each page of the submission. If a UAS student, include your student identification number on each page.
There is a five-poem limit, and prose is limited to 15 pages double-spaced. Artists are limited to five art pieces. If submitting art, work must be in a digital photo format - preferably a TIFF or JPEG - via disk or e-mail. Assistance scanning or photographing three-dimensional art is available at UAS. Submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter that includes contact information, student identification (if applicable), the title of each submission, and a short biography consisting of up to five sentences.
If a submission has been previously published, and the author retains first-time rights, include information about the first publication.
Electronic submission via e-mail are preferred. Work should be Included as an attachment. Electronic copies must be formatted in Microsoft Word. Submissions also may be typed directly into the body of the e-mail.
